Модель Seven Habits (7 привычек) Covey Stephen, гуру менеджмента и теории лидерства, представляет собой теорию, применимую к личной, социальной и рабочей жизни. Однако концепция Seven Habits (7 привычек) применима также для лидеров и менеджеров. Согласно Covey, наши парадигмы влияют на то, как мы взаимодействуем с другими, что в свою очередь влияет на то, как они взаимодействуют с нами. Поэтому Covey утверждает, что любая эффективная программа самопомощи должна начинаться с подхода «изнутри-наружу» , вместо рассмотрения наших проблем как «находящиеся где-то» (подход снаружи-внутрь). Мы должны начать с анализа наших собственных характера, парадигм и мотивов.

Seven Habits (7 привычек) Covey

1. Будьте активны. Это способность контролировать собственную среду, а не наоборот. Менеджерам необходимо контролировать собственную среду, путем использования самоопределения и способности реагировать на различные обстоятельства.
2. Начинайте имея в сознании цель перед собой. Это означает, что менеджер должен видеть желательный результат и сконцентрироваться на действиях, которые помогают достичь этой цели.
3. Определите первоочередные задачи. Менеджер должен управлять собственной личностью. Лично. И менеджеры должны предпринять действия, нацеленые на достижение второй привычки. Covey говорит о том, что привычка 2 является умственным созданием; привычка 3 последующая, физическое создание.
4. Думайте беспроигрышно. Это самый важный аспект межличностного лидерства, потому что большинство достижений основанны на совместных усилиях. Поэтому целью должны быть беспроигрышные решения для всех.
5. Сперва старайтесь понять и после этого быть понятым. Путем развития и поддержания положительных отношений посредством хорошей коммуникации, менеджер добивается хорошего понимания со стороны окружающих и понимания подчиненных.
6. Добивайтесь синергии. Это привычка творческого сотрудничества: сотрудничество в достижении цели часто способствует достижению большего, чем независимая работа отдельных личностей.
7. Заточите лезвие. Мы должны извлекать уроки из нашего предшествующего опыта. И мы должны поощрять других делать то же самое. Covey рассматривает развитие как один из самых важных аспектов способности справиться с задачами.

В книге 2004г.: «The 8th Habit: From Effectiveness to Greatness», Covey вводит дополнительную восьмую привычку:

8. Найдите свой голос и воодушевляйте других к тому, чтобы найти их собственный. Стремление к «величию» означает действовать с ответственностью и помогать другим в этом. Согласно Covey, эта привычка представляет 3-е измерение его модели. Величие является пересечением следующих понятий:

• Личное величие. Применение 7 привычек в форме: видения, дисциплины, страсти и сознания.
• Величие лидерства. Применение 4 ролей лидерства, которые моделируют 7 привычек:
  • Нахождение пути. Создание плана.
  • Приведение в соответствие. Создание технически элегантной рабочей системы.
  • Уполномочивание. Высвобождение таланта, энергии и вклада людей.
  • Моделирование. Укрепление чувства доверия с окружающими. Суть эффективного руководства.
• Организационное величие. Это величие, трансформированное в видение, миссию и ценности. Привносит ясность, приверженность, синергию и обеспечивает отчетность.
