Vad är Kaizen philosophy (Kaizen filosofin)? Definition

Kaizen metoden för ständiga inkrementella förbättringar är ursprungligen ett japanskt management koncept för gradvis ständig (inkrementell) förändring (förbättring).

Kaizen är faktiskt en typ av livfilosofi. Den utgår ifrån att varje aspekt av vårt liv förtjänar till att ständigt förbättras. Kaizen filosofin ligger bakom många japanska management koncept som t.ex.: TQM , kvalitetskontrollcirklar, små gruppaktiviteter, arbetskraftsrelationer.

Nyckelelementen i Kaizen är: kvalitet, insats, medverkan av alla anställda, villighet till att förändra och kommunikation.

Japanska företag skiljer på: Innovation, en radikal form av förändring och Kaizen philosophy (Kaizen filosofin), en ständig form av förändring. Kaizen betyder helt enkelt: Väg (kai) att bli Bra (zen), en strävan efter ständig förbättring.

De fem grundelementen i Kaizen

1. Teamwork.
2. Personlig disciplin.
3. Förbättrad moral.
4. Kvalitetscirklar.
5. Förslag till förbättringar.

ur detta fundament uppstår tre nyckelfaktorer i Kaizen

• Eliminering av slöseri, kassation, förluster (muda) och ineffektivitet.
• Kaizens Fem-S ramverk för en god hushållning.
•       1. Seiri - ordning
•       2. Seiton - regelbundenhet
•       3. Seiso - renlighet
•       4. Seiketsu - standardiserad rengöring
•       5. Shitsuke - disciplin
• Standardisering.

När bör Kaizen filosofin tillämpas? Även om det är svårt att ge en allmäna råd, så är det tydligt att den passar väl in när det gäller gradvisa inkrementella förändringssituationer som kräver en långsiktig förändring och även i kollektiva kulturer. I flera enskilda kulturer som är mer fokuserade på kortfristig framgång, är ofta mer befrämjade av koncept såsom Business Process Reengineering.

Kaizen

När Kaizen jämförs med BPR-metoden så är det tydligt att Kaizen filosofin är mer personal-orienterad och lättare att genomföra, men kräver en långsiktig disciplin och erbjuder endast mindre steg i förändringen. Business Process Reengineerings tillvägagångssätt är å ena sidan mer krävande, teknologi-orienterat, och möjliggör för en radikal förändring, men det kräver mycket goda förändringsledningsfärdigheter.
