Wat zijn Strategiekaarten?

In het boek „The Strategy-Focused Organization“ van 2001, zetten Kaplan en Norton hun Balanced Scorecard om. In 1992 introduceerden zij de Balanced Scorecard in de Harvard Business Review als een systeem om prestatie te meten; nu veranderen zij het in een strategisch managementsysteem. Heel wat van deze transformatie werd bereikt door de zogenaamde Strategie Kaart te benadrukken.

Strategiekaarten zijn diagrammen die beschrijven hoe een organisatie waarde kan creëren: door expliciet strategische doelstellingen door middel van oorzaak en effect relaties met elkaar te verbinden. Via de vier perspectieven van de Balanced Scorecard: financieel, klant, processen, leren en groei. Strategiekaarten zijn een strategisch onderdeel van het Balanced Scorecard raamwerk om strategieën te beschrijven voor waardecreatie .

Kenmerken van Strategiekaarten

1. Alle informatie staat op één pagina; dit maakt relatief gemakkelijke strategische communicatie mogelijk.

2. Er zijn vier perspectieven: Financieel; Klant; Intern; Leren en Groei.

3. Het financiële perspectief beziet het creëren van aandeelhouderswaarde op lange termijn, en gebruikt een productiviteitsstrategie waarin de kostenstructuur en het activagebruik wordt verbeterd en een groeistrategie om kansen uit te breiden en klantenwaarde te verbeteren.

4. Deze laatste vier elementen van strategische verbetering worden gesteund door prijs, kwaliteit, beschikbaarheid, selectie, functionaliteit, service, partnerships en het merk.

5. Vanuit een intern perspectief, helpen de operationele processen en de klantenmanagementprocessen om het product en de dienstattributen te maken. Terwijl de innovatie, regelgevende en sociale processen helpen bij relaties en het imago.

6. Al deze processen worden gesteund door de allocatie van menselijk kapitaal, informatie kapitaal en organisatorisch kapitaal. Het organisatorische kapitaal wordt samengesteld uit bedrijfscultuur, leiderschap, afstemming en teamwork.

7. De verbindende pijlen beschrijven oorzaak en effect relaties.

Wat zijn de belangrijkste principes achter Strategiekaarten?

1. Strategie brengt tegenstrijdige krachten in balans.
2. Strategie is gebaseerd op een onderscheidende klantwaardepropositie.
3. Waarde wordt toegevoegd door interne bedrijfsprocessen.
4. De strategie bestaat uit gelijktijdige, complementaire thema's.
5. Strategische afstemming bepaalt de waarde van immateriële activa.

Gebruik van Strategiekaarten? Voordelen

Door het verbinden van zaken met elkaar zoals aandeelhouderswaardecreatie, klantenmanagement, procesmanagement, kwaliteitsmanagement, kerncapaciteiten, innovatie, human resources, informatietechnologie, organisatieontwerp en leren in één grafische weergave, kunnen Strategiekaarten zeer veel helpen in het beschrijven van de strategie en bij het communiceren van de strategie tussen leidinggevenden en naar hun werknemers. Op deze wijze kan een gelijkgestemdheid rond de strategie worden gecreëerd, die een succesvolle tenuitvoerlegging van de strategie gemakkelijker maakt. Geen klein ding, in gedachten houdend dat vaak, de tenuitvoerlegging van een geconstrueerde strategie de grootste uitdaging is.
