HR Practices and Globalization I would hope globalization leads to improvements in HR practices - if only we could have organizations and countries adopt best HR practices.
To the best of my knowledge, there are no common international standards or practices for HR. While there are best practices that can be adopted by organizations, I do not believe their standards can be or are enforced from one country or organization to the next.
Globalization has probably created some common practices for areas such as recruitment and selection, but areas such as compensation and labour relations probably have fewer common practices.
If you are able to adopt best practices from around the world, I believe your organization and employees would benefit. However, is your executive team and Board willing to allow best practices?
In my experience, HR practices and policies tend to be more focused on their country of origin. There are national groups such as the SHRM (United States) and CHRMA (Canada), which promote professional HR standards and practices.
