Becoming an HR Manager As an HR Manager, you are a leader of the organization and you need to be strategic in your approach to solutions.
Your primary goals are to protect the business and support people by ensuring the right people are in the right job at the right time.
You need to listen and learn with an open mind and a positive attitude.
I would also suggest that you need to be innovative and creative, while following legislation, rules and regulations.
You should also continue to use 12manage as an excellent source of knowledge. Best of luck with your studies.

Key Issues when Becoming an HR Manager As an HR Manager you are a leader of the HR function and not necessarily a leader of the organization. You must become the "Conscience of the Organization" that is advise management when they are infringing on employee rights as well as advise employees when they are infringing on management rights.
Your integrity must be unquestionable and you have to be an effective communicator!
You have to market your services to line management because many of them are unaware of how HR can assist them in achieving their goals.

HR as Change Agent Basically, as you are the culture setter in any business scenario, as an HR Manager, you are basically an agent of change.
One should be dependable, active listener, problem solver, and should be keeper of all information (unless decided otherwise by the Organization), maintaining confidentiality.

Understand the Role of an HR Manager is Strategic You should understand that nowadays, the role of any HR Manager is STRATEGIC. HR plays a vital role in the achievement of the organizational goals. Hence, the HR Manager, being the one who heads the HR Department must be equipped with proper competencies as a STRATEGIC HR MANAGER. Culture, systems, programs, projects, and activities must be aligned to the organizational goals.
Apart from that, a Strategic HR Manager is proactive and a catalyst of positive change especially now in the advent of stiff competition and the many and major external environment changes. As a major decision- maker in the organization, the HR manager must be good in anticipating the impacts of the internal and external environment changes. He/ she sets and establishes concrete measures to cushion their impacts to the organization.
The HR Manager should also be equally or akin competent in all facets of Human Resource Management.
