I'm a Masters student looking at the post merger phase of a university. How can I apply the 7 S model in studying the post merger phase? Please assist.

Post Merger with 7S Framework 1. Assess current situation for each of the 7 S-es for both parts of the new organization.
2. Discuss and Agree on what is the desired situation for each of the 7 S-es
3. Create a Strategy and Strategic Business Plan (Costs, Benefits, Migration, Communication, Risks, Projects, etc) to take each of the 2 entities from 1 to 2.

Post Merger with 7S Framework I agree with the above post.
I would look at the current situation of the 7 S, compare with the previous situation (hopefully you had studied and documented it before), put forward the desired situation and give recommendations on how to get from A to B.

Using 7S in Post Merger Phase I agree with Boudewijn. Note that it's likely that each of the 2 entities will have different “strengths” and “weaknesses”.
This can become a problem if left unattended, but can also be used as a strategic opportunity: each entity can help the other, working together towards a new combined situation.
