Yes it is. BPR, is purely a management concept. It is a new concept. It is doing business by process. Business process also defined in short, as "the root to results",. If we consider Agricutural research as a business process, it is also a root to results. One of the results can be " Exploration of new ways of processing nutrtious foods". The result is determined strategically. According to Hammer doing BPR for this is "the fundamental reconsideration and the radical redesign of organizational processes, inorder to achieve drastic improvement of current performance in cost, services and speed". I want to raise some questions to Belaya. Would you think agricultural researchs in Ethiopia perform well in the world? are cost effective, fast, and result oriented? if not, it has to be reengineered!

Its A Matter of Readiness Mr. Belaya, I appreciate your courage of coming this far.Let me ask you that if you are from agricultural research centre or from a higher education institute, and if you have the prepardeness,honesty and determination to bring reform to your institution??? If so you first need to re-engineer yourself and the people around you! As an engineered process needs an engineered mind for its success. Its not a matter of collecting and compiling information, you can use an ordinary logic with sincerity to bring your system a bit a head. Don't waste the money and energy of your poor people for nothing. BPR is a concept of no use for most of our institutions at least for the moment, its not just about talking. Be Honest first. Get rid off your old, traditional, and corrupted system!!!

BPR in Agriculture We can apply BPR in agricultural coz it applies to processes that we find in the subject. For example I am applying BPR to an agric. engineering institute as my research and I am opimistic about positive results.
