Why Leaders Need Coaching

Leaders have to deal with some specific, tough issues that are related to their role. I see at least four:
1. Balancing short term and long term
2. Business ethics and leadership
3. Change leadership
4. Balancing and integrating personal life and professional life
All of these issues can benefit from coaching.

Coaching as a Mirror

It is difficult to find someone in the office / work place who possesses the courage, independence, discernment and sense of timing to provide the executive (at any level) a candid perspective of his/her effectiveness as a leader, in terms of leadership and decision making styles and, more importantly, emotional competencies.
It doesn't have to be a "lost" situation. From polishing quite effective styles to helping someone not to derail and made redundant, experienced coaches can be a significant source of help. And the higher placed is the coachee, the greater the impact is going to be on the organization's ability to reach the desired outcome / results.

Coaching of Leaders

Leaders need to track the way they are leading others and their organizations; and to learn from that. That is why they need coaching. Any leader who wants to improve his leadership and who trusts any subordinate or staff who is skilled to coach can ask that person to coach him. It's a matter of humility.

Why Leaders Need Coaching

A coach is there to facilitate a leader to find their own solutions.
I do this by assisting them to become deeper and more powerful observers of themselves and their environment. Only by looking at things and situations with "new" eyes will they find solutions that eluded them.

Why Leaders Need Coaching

Conscious leaders do have intuitive feelings. Sometimes they are leading people who do not want to be lead.
With coaching, leaders become more assertive about their own believes and gain expertise on distinguishing "good" from rubbish ideas.

Why Leaders Need Coaching

Coaching is the right way for leaders to show their leadership. Coaching is not persuading somebody of something, it is a magic method to empower the coachee to achieve the goal without any doubt.

Coach Has a Vision from Outside

Leaders are involved in the process so they have a view from inside. Sometimes to arrive at the right decision, communicate it in the right way, one needs to take a comprehensive view.
Coaches help leader in looking at the external point of view. They also help in communicating in a particular way so that its communication does not look biased.

Why Leaders Need Coaching?

Leaders need coaching because through the process of coaching they travel to their inner core self. They are able to understand their weaknesses and strengths, projecting the best performance results through their teamwork. Should they not understand themselves, then it is harder to acoomplish and engage in an engaged team.
