Management Style for a Team

Good question. The Situational Leadership Model from Kenneth Blanchard and Paul Hersey focuses on how managers should lead (manage) individual employees (in their team). Depending on the competences or readiness of employees in their task areas and their commitment to their tasks, the leadership style one should use should vary from one person to another. This model is aimed at the individual level; not at the team level.

Other models are perhaps beter suited for thinking about the leadership style at non-individual level, depending on the situation. Take a look at Tuckman Team Formation Stages (and related Project Managers' styles) and Goleman's Leadership Styles to get started.
