Controlling the Minds of Employees

I think there can be several way to achieve goals, however what's more important is to have control over the mind of the team members. And that's up to the managers how they carry their team.

Achieving Goals

Yes! But the devil is in the details i.e. how do you control the mind of the team members - tell me more - and/or have a look on motivation theories.

Controlling the Minds of Employees

Mind control is getting people to do what THEY want to do (you simply influence what they want so it's in their best interest).
There are two ways to get people to do what you want:
1. Behavior modification, allows you to change a person's undesirable behaviors by using positive reinforcement.
2. Reality modification. We'll concentrate most of our attention on this. This mind control technique is successful because of the way in which your requests are presented.

Mind Control Techniques

Ad 1. Behavior modification: You need to know about your team member behavior. The more you understand about your team member, the easier this is for you. Here you decide what undesirable behavior you want to change. E.g. in sales field people always complain they have been given a target which they can't achieve. However here the manager can inform them if they will achieve the target what they will get. But although this is important, you need to focus also on the second mechanism:
Ad 2. Reality modification: Here, when you know about your team member what they are looking for, you need to modify reality by coordinating what they want in their professional life. For example for some people job security might be very important. Then just modify if they achieve target how this person will be more secure. In another case, if somebody wants career advancement, then inform this person how he can achieve a promotion if he continually achieves target.
You need to be wise which theory you choose. Then see the result. Make sure when you present yourself to your team members, you correlate this with what they want in their life.

Mind Control Techniques

Thanks a lot Mr. Mehta for elaborating on mind control techniques, can you please explain how can one achieve behaviour modification in an obstinate employee?
Are there only two techniques under the category? If there are others please let me know about them.

Controlling the Minds of Various Types of Employees

I think there are circumstances in which 'mind control' can be expected to work; I would proffer first line employees who do the menial tasks in the industry.
However, the same cannot be said about employees in more high-qualification professions such as medicine or university lecturing; for such employees motivation is less contingent on a manipulation of circumstances or conditions (mind control) and more a product of values, achievement, and personal progress.
