High-Level Analysis of a Supply Chain
🔥 Hi, I'm searching for a investigation method to capture the current situation of a Supply Chain. Are there any methods to analyze / map the Supply Chain (with a helikopterview) with costs and revenues?
I know Supply Chain Mapping, but I need to have a method for mapping the SC (coat reck) for this research.
It is a company that buys and sells goods. The warehouse operations are outsourced and there are also products that are delivered direct to the customer from the industry.
The goal of this project is to have insight in the whole supply chain, because at this moment the supply chain is granulated.
Thank you in advance.

Supply Chain Mapping As it is SCM is complex so my advice is not to make your Investigation too technical but to keep it simple.
You basically will have to do do an RA of all activities as documented in the SOPs.
Check on these processes against what is actually happening on the ground. Check too if the SOPs are relevant, I can tell you that people just do their own thing and management is often not aware of it.
Guys on the floor know their stuff and this is where the knowledge lies. They may solve some of the challenges because you are an external party. They have their view on management and usually this is a very poor one.
Now the next thing you have to do is plot all the info into a KES (Key Event Schedule). What is the Activity, What’s wrong, Possible Solution, Who will be held responsible for plugging the gap, By when (this must come from the individual so you can hold them accountable to their own commitment) At what cost, Traffic light (status) Now monitor.
Option 2, Use an RA template.
