Can anyone tell me what are differences between organizational networks and supply chains?

Organizational Networks versus Supply Chains

1. PURPOSE
A. A SC is aimed at moving goods from raw materials to the end customer, and moving money the other way, and moving info in both ways.
B. An ON can have any aim or no specific aim.
2. FORM
A. A SD was historically in the form of a chain. Nowadays SCs have become more complex and so you see also the term: Supply Networks.
B. An ON is always a network.
I think there are more diferences. Who adds them?

Supply Chain versus an Organizational Network

I see supply chain as a function across business areas.
It can be within an organisational network, or extend to include external contractors/suppliers.

Difference Between Organizational Networks and Supply Chain

- I see SC to be broader than ON. Since the aim of a supply chain is to maximize SC profit and minimize cost, it goes beyond the internal activities of individual organizations and sometimes delves into the internal dealings of other organizations, including vital information sharing of the major facets of individual organizations.
- ON on the other hand may deal with various aspects of other organizations and may not be so much interested in the profitability of the networked organizations.
