The Need for a Global Business Ethics
Ethics are what is determined by the society to be right and wrong. This means that ethics can differ from one region to another.
But I still believe we must have global ethics or code of ethics / conduct in businesses since many firms are now global firms.
One important related issue is: Who is going to be the global police organization enforcing this code for these firms?

Global Code of Ethics Take at look at A Strategic and Tactical Approach to Global Business Ethics (2010), by Lawrence A. Beer, Business Expert Press. It provides a good introduction to the subject matter and a practical guide to constructing a global ethical code of conduct for multinational corporations.

What is Ethics? Dear Rudolph L. Boy, Your definition of ethics is good, but obsolete since the arrival of e-working and mobile offices. The internet has made the definition of society more complicated than it used to be; increasingly regions don't matter anymore.
The 12manage.com community is in fact a global society where highly respected executives like you brainstorm and look for solutions to their challenges.
How would you feel if you visit Nigeria and you are treated like a DOG, and everyone says it is ethical?

Business Ethics is the Police To Mr Rudolph, I think business ethics should stand in the middle as a police between culture and modernization. They provide a good way to settle problems when they occur.

Challenges of Global Business Ethics There are many issues with global business ethics, I mention three:
One challenge of business ethics in general is they are not codified at all, or just in vague terms. A lot of interpretation of the 'rules' remains necessary.
A second issue with global business ethics is that in fact business ethics differ per country and even per region within a country.
And then there is the jurisdiction and enforceability of global business ethics since there is no global police organization as Mr. Boy said.
