Kanban / Kaizen / JIT Manufacturing does not Work in the USA
I have just completed my first exposure to Kanban / Kaizen JIT manufacturing as an assembly technician. The system does not work in the USA!
The problem is - as I see it - that when you take away structure from the employees to the point that a Production Unit Leader, also known as Production Manager, Leadman or Supervisor, has no real idea what is going on, the complete system crashes and self destructs.

Does Kanban/Kaizen work in USA Jim, without the support of the entire system it does become more difficult to implement and sustain these types of systems. We are implementing now and are having a fair share of problems also, but you have to fix the issues and continue on. IT DOES WORK.

Does Continuous Improvement Work Your structure is set by standard work because when you pass the Check phase, you have to Act that means transform your improvement into standard work.

Remember PDSA is a Circle / Cycle! It works well when the whole team has faith in the process. Continuous improvement happens as it eliminates the waste of time and process. I observed many times it strucks at check and act. The benefit will be enjoyed only when the cycle continues its rotation.

How to Make Lean Techniques Work Things will work when you train the people, and everybody knows the vision of the company and the goals to achieve it. If the people do not know the benefits that they will get with it, they will not be interested.
But if you tell them that going lean will make them keep their jobs and the company will grow and in these way they will have opportunities to grow they will participate. It they don't you have chosen the wrong people.

Kanban can Surely Work Everywhere, If and When Practiced 'seriously' In every manufacturing system, workers' deep involvement is a must.
Kanban / Kaizen are systems aimed at constant improvement in the quality of manufacturing any product / service in Organizations.
What managers need to do is to involve the workers on the production floor and make them aware that they should take 'pride' not only for themselves but for the entire 'country' in a broader sense, when real 'QUALITY' stuff is rolling out of their factory.
Until and unless this feeling is fixated in the mind set of workers, there is always a problem of involved supervision in such organization.
