I accept what Mohit has said: The core competence can be found by SWOT analysis and CC is all about strengthening your strengths and and removing the threats and weaknesses. As it is mentioned the corporate strategies need to be aligned with core competences (SBU strategies) rather than working as separate unit. And not to forget the customer, he is the beneficiary and all the strategies need to be flexible enough to meet the changing customer needs.........
