Tool to Analyze the Control Proces in a Maintenance Division: BSC or EFQM?
Balanced Scorecard or EFQM? Thats the question I'm dealing with. For my study I have to choose a methode of analysing the control proces in a maintenance division. Just to be clear, the company is a non profit organisation. Profit in this case must be seen as capacity or man hours.
When facing the question how to analyse the control (QDC) my first thoughts went out to BSC or EFQM. Just because I'm familiar with these two analyse methods.
My question is which of the methodes would you prefer. Both obviously have there advantages and disadvantages. Or would you choose another analysis method?

Who Want to Control? If it is a maintenance division, it is important to analyze who is the controller and who is being controlled. Then, determine whether you need operational or strategic control:
- If the control is at corporate level, then a strategic approach could be useful for managers (EFQM or BSC).
- Otherwise, you can use more operational approach like Scorecards, Sig Sigma or ABC/ABM
And remember that the relevance of being a for profit or non profit organization is only associated with managers' perspectives and objectives, because every company has similar issues related to incomes and expenses. Good luck.
