What is the Lap Dog Theory?Lap Dog Theory holds that the mass media produce content that (primarily) serves the interests of political and economic elites, leaving the poor and disadvantaged in the dark. The metaphor oversimplifies the position of most critics, who believe that modern news media can create critical content. However this content has little impact on changing society, partly because ordinary people have limited access to economic and political resources.
