Output and Benefits of Enterprise Architecture (EA) for an Organization

To answer your first question, you first need to analyze the main business stream of your organization. Accordingly, you can then classify each row areas and the corresponding column areas.
The framework, as I use it, allows me to 1st analyze and organize facts about the overall structure of my organization in terms of my very own BFOTM Analysis viz. Business, Functional, Operational, Technical and Managerial aspects. I apply this at a granular level for each project / work stack as well.
Your 2nd question: real benefits of Enterprise Architecture, they are as follows:
1. Solid know-how of your org/dept/work-area
2. Clear facts which allow you to identify problem/opportunity areas (SWOT analysis)
3. Derive/design an operational framework suitable to your org (using IT platforms)
4. Strategize IT costs through re-use, re-structuring

EA for an Organization

Hi Kunal, perhaps some interesting articles for you can be found through the following link. The "Pizzeria" (english powerpoint) example is simplified for general understanding, but there are also two other (english) articles. In one of the cases I participated and I could use results again for our system redevelopment. I am also curious what the forum thinks of these articles / approach?

Hi Ayid, EA will give you structured information of your organizational resources. You will have all information in a single framework which will help you regarding future business investment and decision making.
Most business areas within enterprises either do not understand the value of EA or have different perceptions of it, as dictated by their influences and needs.
This need not be the case. A useful analogy in this regard is a comparison to city planning. In city planning, a city planner focuses on the city’s infrastructure while city management centres its thinking on issues that affect the ‘quality of life’ amongst its citizens and the ultimate goals of the city itself. Similarly, the enterprise architect, like the city planner, focuses on the provision of the technology environment that enables the business transformation—which is the main concern of the business stakeholders.
