Contingency Theory Requirements Rachel Barker and Goerge Angelopulo in their book Integrated Organisational Communication propose that "contingency theories gives top priority to considerations of the organisational context. The main aim is adapting to its environments". This then requires recognition of organisations as open systems whose information imputs will be recognised according to the prevailing circumstances that include the organisations internal and external factors.

Discuss Contingency Theory The contingency school focuses on applying management principles and processes as dictated by the unique characteristics of each situation. It emphasizes that there is no one best way to manage and that it depends on various situational factors, such as the external environment, technology, organizational characteristics, characteristics of the manager, and characteristics of the subordinates.
Contingency theorists often implicitly or explicitly criticize the classical school for its emphasis on the universality of management principles.
Most classical writers recognized the need to consider certain aspects of the situation when applying management principles.
