The X Factor that can Make your Corporate Culture Great: Quiddity
The X factor that will really differentiate your culture is unique for each company. Some X factors that are often used include transparency, a culture of trust, and put people first. They are all to create an environment where people and organizations grow and develop together. If you already have an X factor but it still fails to be really successful, then what is the secret of X factor that can make your culture great?
According to Schorin G. and Wilberding M. in "The X Factor of Great Corporate Cultures", Harvard Business Review January 21, 2020, the true X factor is "
quiddity". They say that if culture is: "the way we do things around here," quiddity is: "The way we do things the way we do."
Quiddity can ensure that culture remains inherent and in harmony, articulating, agreeing, and communicating.

Loss of Quiddity at Boeing @Jaap de Jonge, it's true that Quiddity means inherent nature or essence of something, in this case corporate culture.
In their article, Schorin and Wilberding explain the problem of corporate culture at Boeing. According to them, a corporate culture can evolve; it can become more positive or negative for the development of the business.
A negative evolution occurs if a culture is no longer linked to quiddity like in Boeing. The 2 two Boeing 737 Max accidents show what can happen when culture was no longer linked to Boeing's quiddity.
The Boeing quiddity is to be an innovative aircraft manufacturer and has a list of "firsts”. But in its development of Boeing's own enumeration objectives in its 2025 version, manufacturing is at number four on the list, only following three higher rated sales priorities and profitability measures. This means that quality and/or innovativeness is no longer a top priority at Boeing.
