Sustainability and Quality Management System Go Hand in Hand

Reducing consumption both of raw-material and energy or increasing efficiency will help in improving sustainability. The essence of any quality management system is remove re-work i.e. do it right first time and every time. The moment that happens both the consumption of energy and raw-materials is reduced and the efficiency increases.
Therefore the sustainability and quality management system are interrelated.
How the quality of a product and services can be improved. There are many management systems in place. ISO-50001 is one such system which improves the energy efficiency of a process. The system is a relatively new one being introduced only recently.
I believe any company which is taking a first step to improving sustainability should implement ISO-50001 immediately.
