The Real Management Challenge: Managing People
🔥 HOW TO MANAGE PEOPLE: That is the real management challenge. Human beings are so unpredictable that sometimes I agree with the church and the military. Orders are supposed to be complied with. No messing around with it.
Sometimes, trying to reach consensus seems like a waste of time.
We can certainly design vision, mission, processes, organization charts, timetables, budgets, but in the end it is people who make them a success or goof things up.

How to Manage People I can agree with you to a certain point. However even vision, mission, processes, org charts etc need people's involvement. Only then, people will take decisions or actions to realize the vision, mission etc.
The temptation to jump to 'order mode' is understandable, because we are generally not wired to build consensus, or it may be time-consuming, or maybe we do not want our deepest beliefs to be uncovered or challenged or even the way we view people either as valued contributors or merely order takers.
However, in today’s VUCA world there is no option but to INVOLVE PEOPLE if you want to monitor the fast changing environment or spot opportunities or make customer impact. One could go on endlessly.
