무형자산모니터(IAM,무형자산 평가모델)는 무형자산 측정을 위한 방법으로 그림을 통하여 간단하게 무형자산을 측정하기 위한 여러 관련된 지표들을 보여준다. 지표의 선택은 기업의 전략에 달려 있다. 포맷은 무형자산이 큰 기업과 특별히 관련되어 있다.

무형자산모니터의 활용

무형자산모니터는 경영정보시스템에 통합될 수 있다. Sveiby에 의하면 모니터는 1페이지를 초과하면 안된다. 모니터에는 다수의 코멘트를 포함해야 한다. 제안된 지표중에서 단지 일부만 선택되어야 한다. 가장 중요한 영역은 성장/리뉴얼(growth/renewal), 효율성과 안정성 영역이다. 목적은 큰 그림을 얻기 위한 것이다. 그래서 각각의 범주에서 1~2개의 지표를 다시 설계해야 한다. 우리는 변화를 나타내는 지표에 관심이 있다. 즉 성장 및 리뉴얼 뿐만 아니라 효율성과 안정성의 측정에 관심이 있다. 모니터는 경영정보시스템을 설계하는데 또는 감사(audit) 수행에 사용될 수 있다.

우리가 IAM을 사용할 때, 우리는 3가지 무형자산을 "실제"자산(으로 인식한다.

IAM은 변화와 지식의 흐름을 나타내는 지표들에 관심이 있다. 즉, 성장 및 리뉴얼/혁신, 효율성/활용, 그리고 리스크/안정성의 측정에 관심이 있다. 아이디어는 다음과 상관있는 지표들을 설계함으로써 무형자산이 어떻게 발전하는지를 엿볼 수 있다(peeking) : 궁금해하는 자산의 성장, 리뉴얼 속도, 얼마나 효율적으로 활용하고 있는지 그리고 중단되었을 때의 리스크.
